The French Essentials eBooks are a stand-alone product. There are, however, online quizzes for each lesson that can be accessed in the Student Area at www.frenchessentials.com. This material is provided free of charge for extra practise and is not considered part of the curriculum. Extras in the Student Area may change or be updated any time without prior notice.

Does FE teach Parisian French or Quebec French?

This is a question we get a lot. We teach neither. French Essentials teaches international French which is the internationally accepted pronunciation of the French language. International French can be understood by all French speakers. Note that Parsian French is the accent of the people who live in the Paris region, just one of many accents in France and throughout the Francophony (French-speaking countries).

Do I need an eBook for each child?

No, the workbook pages can be printed for as many children as you have.

What eBooks are currently available?

Currently, eBooks 1- 6 in the French Essentials series are available for purchase.

When will the rest of the eBooks in the series be ready?

The remaining eBooks in the French Essentials series will be availalbe by the end of 2018.

Does each eBook have a grade level?

Yes & no. A grade level is not assigned to each eBook because the eBooks are designed for students to start learning at any age. However, eBooks 1-5 cover pre-highschool beginner French, what is generally taught from 5th to 8th grade. Grades 9-12 wil be covered in eBooks 6-9.

At what age can a student start using the eBooks?

Students can begin using the eBooks as early as age 9. The written component requires students to be able to read well in English.

Can I have an eBook on more than one device?

Yes, within the same family. Sharing the eBooks with others or using the eBooks in a school setting is not permitted. Please read the section (1) from our Terms of Agreement: (1) French Essentials curriculum for homeschool has been priced to be accessible to all homeschool families. It is specifically designed for single family use only. Multi-family or classrooom use without prior arrangements with French Essentials is a violation of the terms of agreement. The cost for classroom use in a school is different than single family use.

Do the eBooks work on the iPad & tablets?

Yes, see the technical section of the FAQs for important information on using the eBooks on an iPad or Android based tablet such as the Samsung Galaxy.
